New registrations rising

More and more motorists are now not only looking after the environment but also their own pockets for the number of NGVs has been rising steadily for years by about 40 Percent a year, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority.

While at the beginning of 2006, there were only 39,000 NGVs on our roads, by 1 January 2007 this figure had already increased to 55,000. In future, the number of new registrations should continue to rise. Another reason for this is that CO2 emissions can be further reduced by adding bio natural gas to the natural gas fuel. Thus the ecological advantage of the NGVs can be further boosted by the use of bio natural gas.

a filling station

At present, natural gas as a motor fuel is available at roughly 840 filling stations throughout Germany. According to the plans, it will be 1,000 by 2008. . The new filling stations will be built by our new subsidiary "E.ON Gas Mobil", which was especially established for this purpose.

Benefits

a natural gas vehicle

NGVs are very popular with buyers of new cars because of the low price of the fuel. By filling up with natural gas instead of petrol, motorists reduce their fuel costs by more than 50% and by some 30% if the fuel replaced is diesel. This will stay that way in the future as well since the German government has committed itself to the lower tax rate on gas as a motor fuel until 2018.
